Lots of features including thumbnails, batch conversion, handles thumbs of documents, and videos as well, can search for duplicate pics and set a heuristic % of likeness in the search 100% the same 90% the same etc.īut the reality is all of that takes time, you have to tag the photos. I use thumbsplus to organize my photos, it has the capability to set tags and comments on each photo to allow you to search for the tags your looking for. I often take dozens of pictures a day, so it's a big part of my life I just don't have to worry about anymore. The photos I take on my iPhone are automatically uploaded to iCloud and Google Photos, then tagged automatically within hours. And knowing they're safe from a house fire or failed drive without having to maintain a backup solution is worth the price, in my opinion. This is probably the wrong place to recommend giving billion-dollar corporations all of your pictures and allowing them to use object and facial recognition on all of them, but being able to instantly find any one of 50,000 photos by keyword without having to do any work is pretty cool. Not sure how it works because I barely recognize either of us at that age, but it's incredible. I just scanned a few thousand photos from old photo libraries and tried searching "disney mom me" in Google Photos and sure enough it pulled up pictures of my mom and I at Disney World 20 years ago. I also have a few tags for my different vehicles and a tag for maintenance so I can see the parts I last used on my boat, for example. All my photos are tagged by face or pet (Apple Photos doesn't recognize pets unfortunately), location, and date of course. I have my library of about 50,000 photos and videos in each service (I lost nearly all my childhood photos due to a failed HDD, so I tend to be overkill with cloud storage nowadays) and it's amazing. Not sure why Google Photos or Apple Photos haven't been given more serious recommendations. It would take a couple of minutes, but not as long tagging hundreds of pictures with their locations, events, date-stamps, and contents. If I wanted to find a picture of my son at Disneyworld in 2018, then I'd go to the "Disneyworld 2018" folder and his picture would be there. I'm not trying to say it in a rude way, but I think we're all kind of hinting that you're looking for a very complicated automated solution to a problem that most of us fix manually in a couple of minutes. Knowing just 'something' about it helps bring up possible ones? not needing to know date of pic you are looking for. Yeah, that's a specific situation, but I think a good example. all will be only in WDW and only with him (at least) in it. I envision opening an app, filter and check box next to his name and next to WDW. Without knowing dates we went there, who else was in the pic, etc. How do any of those help you find a picture?Īgain, using the example of needing to find a pic of my son at WDW, from one of several trips over different years. So hundreds of pics & videos folders under my pics. Right now, I have them in folders by date. but haven't found an app that works this way, so if it was so great, someone else would have thought of it and someone would have made it?ī) What IS the way you manage pictures and are able to find 1 amongst thousands without looking at each one : ) ? And then free form wouldn t find things in florida, etc.Ī) Am I thinking wrong on how best to manage pics? I think this is a great way. Because I might type WDW or wat disny world (typos), etc. so if I wanted a wider search later, checking family would bring up this pic also.Īnd I see check boxes rather than free form. Checking our son's name, would check family, people, etc. I'd check my son (which would be under 'family' check box, under people check box), wdw (which would be under 'florida' which would be under 'US', under 'location', and a date filter.Īnd for marking each pic, I envision being able to see that same table and check the appropriate boxes. I envision going into the app, bring up search and it'd be a hierarchical table of check boxes. Say I want to find a picture of my son at Walt Disney World in 2010. I may be wrong on what I want to be able to do, but it's this: Been looking for years for an app to organize our personal pics.
